A packed night of quite sad and pared down and very beautiful folk music

Dead Western (KDVS Recordings)

Having released his music on several independent labels already, Dead Western, also known as Troy Mighty (still not even his real name), wil be putting out his newest vinyl release on KDVS Recordings in the very near future.  In the meantime, you can come see Dead Western do his hyper-bassy voice tweaks and watch him experiment with what pop music really is.  Absolutely no folk singer sounds anything like Dead Western, and that alone is a huge accomplishment in the tried and true world of folk music.

Ora Cogan

Out of Vancouver, Ora Cogan is impossibly beautiful and entirely haunting and catchy at the same time.  It is hard not to draw parallels with Jolie Holland's music.

Daughter to a Singer and a Photo Journalist. Ora’s house was also a recording studio and her Family played host to a constant stream of musicians and travelers. Ora started writing songs and performing at 12. She has picked up a few instruments along the way and has shared stages with many artists including: Po’ Girl, C.R. Avery, Carolyn Mark, Alela Diane and The Be Good Tanyas. Ora Cogan is based in Vancouver, BC.

Joseph Davancens

Having played a Davis house show only a few weeks back to an intimately small audience, Joseph makes a quick return.  Joseph's solo set is frighteningly reduced to an absolute minimum, with tension-filled gaps in time waiting to be filled but instead leaving you completely hoping for more.  Listen to Joseph's myspace and you'll get a feel immediately for his hyper-catchy and hard-to-get-out-of-your-head folk-pop.

Gabriel Saloman+Aja Rose Duo

Somwhere in between perhaps?  Come and find out!
