Soon after Phish began preparing to record "Story Of The Ghost", the band played some live shows in the northeast, labeled the Island Tour. They did two shows at Nassau Coliseum and two at Providence Civic Center. Each of these titles is comprised of three CDs. You can hear the band's excitement during the soundcheck at this show. Track highlights include "Tweezer", "Taste", "Birds Of A Feather", "2001", and a very funky "Brother".
Reducing the optical industry's environmental impact
As an L&D Specialist being an ABDO member is crucial. I can email or call ABDO and get a prompt and friendly reply. This quick and easy access to professional and clinical guidance is brilliant. Easy access to new and relevant CET is always useful and I enjoy reading Dispensing Optics on my tablet to keep up to date. Access to Ophthalmic Lens Availability and British Standards is invaluable. In short, I would be lost without my ABDO membership.
ABDO for hospital DOs
As a Hospital Dispensing Optician I have been blown away by the support and guidance the ABDO membership team provide and the opportunities to get involved in the organisation. The membership team are amazing and are always available to help with any queries whether clinical or pastoral. The range of CET points allow me to keep up to date with skills that I don’t practice regularly and help me to develop my areas of interest.
ABDO is working for you
ABDO is your professional body, the only professional body which solely supports Dispensing Opticians. It works tirelessly to support, promote and enhance the role of a DO. When help is needed ABDO is always there. ABDO has served me well throughout my career and I cannot recommend highly enough life time membership of the association.
As a lone Dispensing Optician in independent practice, I’ve been a member of ABDO since the day I started as a student. The resources and membership benefits have grown over the years. ABDO offers me all my CET needs, keeps me updated with news, and is my first port of call for advice. ABDO has provided me the opportunity to network over the years with likeminded professionals whom I now consider friends.
ABDO for employers
As an employer it’s is impossible to know everything about employment law, employee rights and correct procedures. As an ABDO member I have been able to call membership services on numerous occasions to ask about such matters, they always handle my enquiry quickly and with a no nonsense approach! An amazingly useful service.
ABDO driving the enhanced services agenda
ABDO has helped drive the DO & CLO inclusive enhanced services agenda so we now have a new career pathway. It is great to see ABDO raising the profile of our profession by being so visible at conferences, events and forums. Now is the time for us to stand up and be recognized for the work we do.
ABDO supports its members
Getting involved with ABDO ensures every DO can meet likeminded colleagues. ABDO facilitates a strong network of guidance and support across all areas of the UK.
Benefits of membership
I have discovered so many membership benefits on the ABDO membership benefits and services page. I found great discounts on home insurance, gym membership, holidays and cinema tickets. I am looking forward to using our benefits to the full.
So many benefits
Whether you are a student or a registered optician of many years ABDO continues to evolve and support its members. Who would have thought, back in the 1990s, that it would be providing the means for members to stay registered, that area meetings would allow members to gain CET points. The benefits continue to be updated and made more relevant.
I cannot imagine not being a member of ABDO
I simply cannot imagine not being a member of ABDO. I joined as a student back in 1983 and I am proud to say, I was in the first cohort of DOs who qualified under ABDO in 1986 and were entitled to use the suffix FBDO. I am proud of my suffix and what it represents and to be an ABDO member today
This is a great time to be part of ABDO
ABDO is a progressive association with its members at the core of the decision making process. This is a great time to be part of ABDO. The broad range of benefits including free CET are very relevant and practical for all members.
